The transition from one to two was difficult. I always thought I was neglecting Dax. My main focus was breastfeeding Xavier.
Daxton was in heaven with his brother. He wanted to help with all the things! So we let him. It made him feel included and important. It was also very important that we stuck with the same schedule Dax was always on. Kids like routines.
We did find it hard to cosleep with Xavier and not Dax. We bed trained Daxton when he was one and he sleeps like a champ in his bed ever since. But, since we had Xavier in our bed, Daxton wanted to join. We let him. He again felt included. This only lasted about a week before Dax was back in his own bed.
If you’re going from one to two, my advice is to just include them! Tell them their job as a big sibling is so important! They get to help grab all the things for mom. They get to teach their little sibling how to do everything! Dax still enjoys making his brother laugh!
